Located south of Halong Bay, Cat Ba Island and Lan Ha Bay boast incredible beauty with lush forests, clear turquoise water, and mysterious caves. What we enjoy the most about traveling to this complex of 367 islands is the combination of tropical rainforests and karst. This unique location has mangrove forests, coral reefs, seagrass beds, caves, and lagoons. Additionally, the people of Cat Ba are kind, generous, and hospitable, adding to the charm of the island. It’s easy to put a smile on their faces.

This journey is designed to offer a collection of simple and beautiful experiences that we have enjoyed the most, including walking in the national park, staying in the quiet valley of Viet Hai village, and swimming on tiny beaches. There are also many opportunities to meet with locals, such as cooking with them and having dinner with a fisherman’s family.

Meals: Lunch and dinner | Accommodation: Ladu homestay or Cat Ba Eco Hotel Departure from 96 Nguyen Huu Huan at 8 AM, leaving for Cat Ba by travel bus (as the style of responsible travelers). Following the scenic route of the 5B expressway, you will enjoy convenient transport and the breathtaking beauty of the verdant rice fields and small towns in the Red River Delta by the roadside. Arriving at Gót Wharf after a two-hour drive, the journey continues with a speedboat to come through the sea to the pearl island - Cat Ba.

The first accommodation is near Lan Ha Bay, offering tranquility and isolation. It has a minimalist style and a small garden adorned with lush greenery. Upon arrival, settle in, rest, and have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, connect with nature by exploring Cat Ba National Park. The road from town to the park’s entrance is green and sometimes fragrant, thanks to the forest plants and flowers along the way.

First, we will stop at Thung Trang cave and have a light walk to this small and pretty cave, then hop on the car again to the national park. Then, it is two hours of trekking through the Kim Giao forest (which provides the wood for chopsticks) to the top of Ngu Lam mountain, where you can see a breathtaking view of valleys. In the evening, you will have dinner with a fisherman's family, who will pick you up from Beo Harbour by boat and take you to their floating house in Lan Ha Bay. Enjoy the fresh dishes prepared by the family, and having a chat with them is an opportunity to understand the life of fishermen in the only floating village of Halong Archipelago. Return to Beo Harbor and stroll to your homestay.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner | Accommodation: Viet Hai Ancient House Enjoy a relaxed morning to experience the daily routine of life on the island. After breakfast, you will meet Mrs. Thoa, a local resident, who will take you to the Cat Ba fish market. She will introduce you to the market's functioning and show you the different kinds of seafood traded here. You can then purchase fresh ingredients and return to Thoa's house to prepare lunch. If you want, you can assist Thoa in cooking and learning some simple but delicious Cat Ba dishes, or you can go for a swim while waiting for lunch to be ready.

Immerse yourself in the life of fishermen in Cat Ba - Lan Ha

In the afternoon, you will travel to Beo Harbor and board a small boat to Viet Hai village. The journey will be delightful, passing floating villages and seafood farms into Lan Ha Bay. You will arrive at Viet Hai Harbor, where you will hop on an electric shuttle bus to get the village. Ancient House Viet Hai will welcome us with a delicious dinner.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch | Accommodation: Viet Hai ancient house Start your day by waking up in the peaceful surroundings of Viet Hai Ancient House. After a delicious breakfast, your tour guide will meet you for a full-day tour of Lan Ha Bay. It will be an active yet relaxing day on the bay.

Relaxing day on the beach

First, you will walk to the village, where a bicycle will be waiting for you to ride through the village and reach the harbor. There, you will meet Thoi, a cheerful boatwoman who will be your guide for the day. Thoi is an expert on the best spots for kayaking and swimming on Lan Ha Bay, and she will take you to some of the most beautiful and secluded locations, depending on the sea level each day.

During the tour, you will enjoy a picnic lunch on either the boat or a beach. At the end of the day, you will cycle to Viet Hai Ancient House for another overnight stay.

Meals: Breakfast| Accommodation: Not any You can enjoy a free morning on the last day of the trip. One option is to hike to Hai Quan Peak for a fantastic view of the whole village and Lan Ha Bay. After lunch, you will be transferred by boat to Cai Beo Harbour, where you will take the bus back to Hanoi. You will arrive in Hanoi at the end of the afternoon, which marks the end of your service.
