Hue – Craft villages through nostalgic trading port

Nestled 7km in the North of Hue, Bao Vinh ancient town was a vibrant trading port in the 17 century with ancient houses, social premises and temples,… For more than 300 years, crossing ferries or ancient houses have been preserved in this town until now.

From these crossing ferries, your boat will sail down the poetic Hương River (Perfume River), through two famous craft villages, Thanh Tien Confetti Village & Sinh Folk Painting Village. Spiritual products, made by residents there, played a significant role in this trading port life in the past.

Your tour guide will pick you up at 8:00 am and you’ll head to Bao Vinh town. There, you will explore the local life in the ancient trading port by embarking on the trip through various spots: Bao Vinh communal house, ancient houses, and pagodas. You’ll take a bit stop in a family to listen to Bao Vinh historical stories, as well as local life in the ancient houses nowadays.

You’ll have lunch in a local family. At 2:00 pm, you will take a hand-rowed boat to Tien Non - a fresh flower village, and Thanh Tien - a confetti village. You’ll be welcomed by the family of artisan Nguyen Hoa and take a deep insight into lotus confetti making. This craft was revived by locals in 2009 after a long time of being lost. So, you can have hands-on experience right there under the guidance of the artisan, then bring it to your home.
