Located 40km in North of Hue City, Phuoc Tich is an ancient village nestled along the tranquil O Lau River. This ancient village is over 550 years old, renowned for its pottery craft and the “Om Ngự” (rice clay pot) – a ceramic product once offered to the kings.
The journey will take you to a serene village to escape from the bustle and hustle of city, with over 100-year-old ancient houses with the characteristic architecture of Hue’s communal houses, the O Lau River, and ancient temples. It’s a chance for you to delve into the life of the village and Hue in general, through the lens of daily life, accommodation, and experiences with the villagers.
On the way back, you can make a stop to visit Ngu My Thanh village, fishing village and admire the sunset over the largest lagoon system in Southeast Asia, including Tam Giang and Cau Hai lagoons, etc.

Day 1: Hue - Phuoc Tich
Meals: Lunch & Dinner | Accommodation: Ancient House
Our tour guide will pick you up at 9:00 am and you’ll arrive in Phuoc Tich at 10:00 am. Starting from the village gate, you will take a slight walk or cycle around to explore the history of over 550-year-old village through: Cay Thi Temple, the traditional communal house, the Twin Temples, and “nhà rường” (a traditional Hue-style wooden house). This is a chance for you to talk with a host to take a deep insight into their family life and village customs.

After that, you will enjoy lunch with local dishes in a local family of Mrs.Thu. In the afternoon, you’ll visit Uncle Dien’s family, where ancient pottery products of the village are exhibited and join an amusing folk game called “Bịt mắt đập om”. Then, you will have a tranquil moment when enjoying a cup of tea with Uncle Dien and listening to stories about Om Ngự (rice clay pot for Kings), royal meals, and the village's pottery-making history.

Then, you’ll come back to the homestay to rest. This is a traditional garden house built following feudal architectural standards, reflecting the typical style of “nhà rường” in Hue.You can take time to prepare meal with the host family or stroll around the village before having dinner and rest.

Day 2: Phuoc Tich - Pho Trach Craft Village - Tam Giang Lagoon

Morning! You’ll wake up amidst the fresh air of an ancient village on the river bank. Let’s take a walk with your host to the local market, a place to exchange goods as well as the culture of the village. Interestingly! When coming there, you’ll step into another land of Vietnam because this market is officially located in My Chanh village, Quang Tri province. Option 1: After breakfast, you will take a boat ride on the O Lau River, following the direction of a bridge to reach Quang Tri and visit a communal house. At that time, strolling around this village allows you to gain another lens of Phuoc Tich Village, lying on the other side. Then, you'll have the chance to experience making traditional local cakes: "bánh quay vạc" and "bánh Phu Thê".

Option 2:You will move to Pho Trach Village by bike or car to explore the craft village & featured products made from sedge grass: bags, hats, etc. Here, you also have a chance to hands-on make a product from sedge grass. Then, you will come back to Phuoc Tich Village and have lunch at your homestay.In the afternoon, you’ll say farewell to villagers and return to Hue. On the way back, you can take a bit stop in the fishing village Ngu My Thanh in Tam Giang Lagoon. Upon boarding the boat, you’ll pass through a mangrove and the boat will anchor in the lagoon, giving you free time to relax with amusing activities such as taking a SUP or catching clam (đập trìa). At this time, the fishermen who accompany you will start to grill seafood on the boat, ready for you to enjoy with a cold beer while admiring the spectacular sunset descending over Tam Giang Lagoon.
