During your trek, you will get to explore the jungle, the mountains, and the rice paddies, and you will also have the opportunity to visit an impressive cave and waterfall, discover the vast bamboo waterwheels (which are a specialty of the Black Thai ethnic group), and experience bamboo rafting. To get the full local experience, you will be accompanied by one of our friendly Thai local guides, and you will get to stay in a family house with a local family. Welcome by gracious White Thai people in Mai Chau
After a tour briefing, you will begin cycling through the rice fields and along narrow lanes to reach Na Phon village. Here, you will visit a weaving workshop and learn the traditional White Thai weaving, dyeing, and embroidery techniques. You will also experience a hands-on natural dyeing workshop hosted by a Thai lady. You can take home the products you make and fond memories of the time spent with the beautiful people. Later, you will return to the homestay and enjoy a lunch of Mai Chau specialties delicately prepared by your host family. In the afternoon, you will hop on bicycles and start cycling through the beautiful trails of Mai Chau Valley. These trails will take you through quaint villages: Nhot, Na Phon, Chieng Chau, Pom Coong and Van Village, where you can stop anytime to catch beautiful moments of nature or talk to friendly villagers.Beautiful cycling trails in Mai Chau Valley
Once you return to our homestay, you can chill out in the reading corner or walk around Na Phon village. In the evening, we will enjoy dinner prepared by your hosts, who have fantastic culinary skills. In the afternoon, let’s start trekking at a small alley near your homestay until reaching beautiful viewpoints of the infinity rice terraces. Arriving at the top of the hill, you will slowly see the village of Kho Muong and understand how special this place is. After walking around the village, you will walk to the cave entrance. It’s possible to visit the cave (depending on weather conditions). Then, you will head back to the homestay to rest. You can join the local family to prepare dinner with them before sharing dinner. The trek then passes through a small dirt path, passing by an isolated hamlet and through the jungle. You will arrive at the higher part of Hieu village and contemplate some stunning views. Check in at the homestay to refresh yourself. Then, take a short walk to reach the waterfall. You will see some local houses. Then, you can enjoy the waterfall (swimming or water hiking, depending on the season). Back to the homestay for dinner and a quiet nightBamboo waterwheels
You will arrive in Lang Ca, enjoying lunch at a local family stilt house. After lunch and tea, continue hiking along the river through dirt paths and jungle. The highlight of your day will be a refreshing swim in the Cham River, a perfect way to relax after your adventure. You will then board the car to return to our Mai Chau homestay. After lunch, we will head back to Mai Chau. On the way, we will stop at Hoà Bình lake, formed during the construction of the Hoa Binh hydropower plant. The lake is called Halong Bay on the mountain, thanks to its stunning views of the jade reservoir.
